Privacy Policy
JT Trading Corporation (the “Company”, “we”, “our” or “us”) realizes the importance of protecting personal data of individuals in Singapore. This document contains the personal data protection and privacy policy adopted by the Company to manage your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (as may be in force, amended or re-enacted from time to time) and/or other relevant laws and regulations as well as guidelines applicable in Singapore (collectively, the “Act” or “PDPA”). Please take a moment to read this policy to understand the purposes for which we collect, use and/or disclose your personal data. The term “personal data” we use herein has the same meaning as defined in the PDPA.
We have developed this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”) to assist you in understanding how we collect, use, disclose, process, protect and retain your personal data that is in our possession.
1. Concerning the observance of laws and standards
1.1 The Company respects the privacy of individuals and recognizes the need to treat personal data in an appropriate and lawful manner, and is committed to comply with its obligations in this regard, in respect of all personal data it handles.
1.2 The Company may change some parts or all of the contents of this policy from time to time to ensure that this policy is in line with the legal and regulatory requirements, as well as the regulations and constitutive documents of the Company. Hence, we advise you to check regularly for updated information on the handling of your personal data.
1.3 If you consider that this policy does not follow the PDPA in respect to the personal data about you or others, you should raise the matter with our Data Protection Officer as soon as possible.
2. Concerning collection of your personal data
In general, we may collect your personal data in several ways, including but not limited to the following:
- When you browse our websites;
- When you create an account with us;
- When you apply for a sample of the products on our website;
- When you subscribe to our publications or marketing collaterals;
- When you enter a competition, promotion or survey;
- When you participate in any activity or campaign provided us on our website;
- When you interact with us offline, including without limitation when you interact with our staff for consultation at an exhibition.
3. Concerning types of personal data which may be collected
The types of personal data that is collected by the Company may include some or all of the following information:
- Full name;
- Residential address (including country/territory);
- Telephone number;
- Email Address;
- Company name (not mandatory);
- Date of birth (not mandatory);
- Gender (not mandatory);
- Profession, like architect, interior designer and buyer (not mandatory).
Please note that the above list is not exhaustive of the categories of personal data the Company may collect. Notwithstanding, the Company will not collect your NRIC/FIN/Passport number unless permitted or required by the Act or any other applicable laws or regulations.
4. Concerning the purposes to use personal data
Generally, we collects, use and/or disclose the personal data you provide us for one or more of the following purposes:
- To consider and process your proposal on or application for our services and/or goods;
- To facilitate your use of our services and/or goods or access to our websites;
- To provide you with our services and/or goods;
- To administer the online account that you may have set up with us;
- To conduct analytics, research, business and development;
- For marketing and lead generation purposes;
- To conduct joint marketing with other companies and service providers;
- To communicate with you via WhatsApp, including for service updates, delivery notifications, and to respond to your inquiries;
- To respond to your inquiries and feedback to improve the quality of our services;
- To analyze the use of our products, services or websites;
- To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us;
- Internal record keeping purposes;
- Security purposes at our properties;
- Comply with or fulfil legal obligations and regulatory requirements
5. Concerning disclosure of personal data
We may disclose some of the personal data you provide us to the following entities or organizations outside TPJ in order to fulfil our services to you:
- External logistics providers (e.g. DHL)
- Regulatory authority (e.g. customs)
- Email Service Vendors (e.g. Zoho)
Where required to do so by law, we may disclose personal data we collected to the relevant authorities or to law enforcement agencies.
6. Concerning management of personal data
6.1 Obtaining Consent
Generally, before we collect, use or disclose your personal data, we will notify you of the purpose and obtain a confirmation from you on your expressed consent on our collection, use and disclosure of the personal data unless it is exempted by the PDPA. We will not collect any personal data which is unnecessary for the purposes stated in this Policy. We will seek fresh consent from you if the original purpose for the collection, use or disclosure of personal data has changed.
However, by submitting your personal data to the Company, you agree and consent to the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal data by the Company for a part or all of the purposes set out in clause 4.
If at any time we decide to collect, use or disclose your personal data in a different manner as to the purposes set out above, we will request your consent to the additional purpose(s) in writing, in which you may refuse to give at your discretion.
If you provide us with personal data relating to a third party (e.g. information of your spouse, children, parents or relatives), you represent and warrant to us that you have obtained the consent of such third party to provide us with their personal data for the relevant purposes. Where the personal data provided relates to a child or ward, you represent and warrant to us that you are either his/her parent or legal guardian, and that such personal data is legitimate, indeed and accurate.
6.2 Withdrawal of Consent
You may at any time withdraw any consent given in respect of the collection, use or disclosure of your personal data by giving prior notice in the form of a formal written request addressed to the Data Protection Officer.
In the event that you withdraw your consent to the Company in relation to the purposes mentioned above, the Company shall cease to collect, use and/or disclose your personal data within ten (10) working days upon receiving your withdrawal request. Please note that once consent is withdrawn, it may not be possible for us to accomplish the purposes as set out in clause 4, and hence, we may be unable to continue providing the requisite services to you.
If you wish to stop receiving communications via WhatsApp, please inform us, and we will cease use within 10 working days.
6.3 Use of Communication Platforms
We may use third-party communication platforms, including WhatsApp, to interact with you. These platforms may collect certain metadata or user data according to their own privacy policies. By communicating with us via such platforms, you agree to the use of your personal data in accordance with both this Privacy Policy and the privacy policies of the respective platform.
6.4 Use of Cookies
We use “cookies” to collect information about your online activity on our website. A cookie is a small text file created by the website that is stored in your computer to provide a way for the website to recognise you and keep track of your preferences. The cookie makes it convenient for you such that you do not have to retype the same information again when you revisit the website or in filling electronic forms.
Most cookies we use are “session cookies”, which will be deleted automatically from the hard disk of your computer at the end of the session. You may choose not to accept cookies by turning off this feature in your web browser. Note that by doing so, you may not be able to use some of the features and functions in our web applications.
7. Concerning accuracy of personal data
We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal data collected by or on behalf of us is accurate, complete, not misleading and kept up-to-date. From time to time, we may do a data verification exercise for you to update us on any changes to the personal data provided by you and in our possession. If we are in an ongoing relationship with you, it is important that you update us of any changes to your personal data (such as a change in your mailing address).
8. Concerning personal data protection and security measures
The Company will take reasonable measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access or modification, improper collection, use or disclosure, unlawful destruction or accidental loss. You should be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While security cannot be guaranteed, we strive to protect the security of the personal data and will constantly review and enhance our information security measures. In the event that we have credible grounds to believe that an incident of personal data breach has occurred, we will take reasonable and expeditious steps in accordance with the Act.
9. Concerning retention of personal data
Your personal data will be retained by the Company for as long as necessary according to our internal policy for the fulfilment of the purposes stated in clause 4 or is required to satisfy any legal or business purposes.
10. Concerning access and correction to personal data
You may apply for a copy of your personal data held by the Company, or request for your personal data to be updated or corrected, by sending a formal written request to our Data Protection Officer. Please be informed that we are entitled to charge a fee to recover the costs directly related to the access of the personal data for the time and effort spent by us in responding to the same, and will let you know the amount accordingly.
You should ensure that all personal data submitted to us is complete and accurate. Failure to do so may result in our inability to provide you with the information or services you requested. However, if you find that the personal data under our possession about you is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or not up-to-date you may ask us to correct the data. Within thirty (30) days upon receiving your request, where we are satisfied on reasonable grounds for such request, we shall:
- (a) provide you with a copy of your personal data under our custody and/or other relevant information in accordance with the Act therein;
- (b) correct your personal data as soon as practicable and inform you that the relevant correction has been made; or
- (c) inform you that your request for access or correction of your personal data is rejected, if the request was made in circumstances predefined by the Act where such access or correction is prohibited or not required.
11. Concerning transfer of personal data
The personal data which we collect from you may be transferred to another country(ies) outside Singapore (including but not limited to [ ], the Company’s Headquarters in Japan), for the purpose(s) stated in clause 4. We will ensure that the standard of data protection in the recipient country is comparable to that of the PDPA. If this is not so, we will enter into a contractual agreement with the receiving party to accord similar levels of data protection as under the PDPA.
12. Mandatory Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event that we suffer a data breach pertaining to unauthorized access or disclosure of personal data being stored or processed by us, we will meet the PDPA's breach notification timelines and requirements to perform the needful, including but not limited to informing relevant authorities and affected individuals, based on the Significant Harm or Significant Scale definitions as set out by the PDPA.

14. Concerning the establishment and continual improvement of a management system for personal data protection
In order to appropriately manage personal data, the Company shall continually work towards improving the development of our data management system and internal company regulations.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the latest Policy on our website. Please visit our website periodically to note any changes. Changes to this Policy take effect when they are posted on our website.
